BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH
Jim Shearer is the Principal and CEO of The Manufacturing Optimization Group,
Inc., a firm specializing in assisting small-to-medium sized manufacturing
companies achieve significantly improved business and operational performance.
Most recently, Jim served
as the President and Chief Operating Officer of M. Stephens Manufacturing, Inc.,
a manufacturer of durable goods in the electrical industry. Previously, he
served as Senior Vice President & General Manager of James Hardie Irrigation’s
Agricultural Irrigation Division and Managing Director of The Toro Company’s
Agricultural Irrigation Division. In his earlier career, he served in key
manager, director, and vice president-level roles in engineering and
manufacturing of products ranging from high volume commodities to one-of-a-kind
capital equipment.
Jim has been involved in mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures; has developed
and successfully implemented strategic and annual operating plans; and has
implemented significant improvements in productivity and cost reduction in
various diverse manufacturing companies. He has led successful operational
turnarounds in three manufacturing companies and has extensive experience in
both Maquiladora operations and Asian outsourcing.
Jim voluntarily provides management assistance to local charities, and also
lectures at several universities on various aspects of manufacturing in today’s
ultra-competitive business climate. He is a member of the Association of
Professional Consultants.
When not assisting manufacturing clients improve business operations, he enjoys
spending time with his family, including three “perpetual motion” miniature
Dachshunds.
